Rock 'N Roll Necklace  Saturday, October 2, 2010   8:30 - 4:00

Description
This is a great introduction to Fine Silver Fusing and some simple metal working techniques.  Students will form a chain of fused fine silver links. Students will form, fuse, texture and connect the links. Using only cold connections, students will cut flowers from sheet metal, texture and connect to centerpiece. A bezel set cabochon will be added for extra bling - no solder, no glue. Finally, the chain will be connected to leather cord to create your own Rock 'N Roll Necklace. Students will explore a variety of texturing and cold connection techniques.

Time for Cold Connections  Sunday, October 3, 2010    8:30 - 4:00

Description
Now is the time to explore the world of texturing and cold connection techniques in this day-long introduction to metalsmithing. Come cut, hammer, texture, rivet and embellish metal. Yes, that is a bezel set cabachon - no solder, no glue!!  You will leave class with a watchband sampler of textures and cold connections. We will even explore a simple resin technique, using a fast-curing resin product.

Have you ever had a day where you just wanted to hit something with a hammer?  Well, don’t let that moment be destructive!  Come learn how to use that urge to create awesome pieces of metal jewelry. No previous experience needed!!

We have a whole day together to learn shaping, stamping, cold metal connections, and patina techniques using brass and copper sheet metal.  You will take plain sheets of metal and work them into your own creative pieces.  You can form earrings, pendants, bracelets, and even rings! Be sure to wear an old shirt because this is a messy class!

We will be bringing tools for you to use during the class, however if you already have these materials, you might want to bring them along:

Steel bench block                             Metal hole punch
Patterned hammers                          Metal Stamps

One day class from 10a-4:30 pm
Tuition:  $150.00
Class Dates:    March 27, 2010

You will learn to fuse the links and shape them (circle, oval, square and heart shaped links).  You will also learn multiple techniques to texture the links.  Options for joining the links to form a bracelet will be covered.  You will also learn two options for forming your own clasp.  Options for patina and polishing will also be covered.  You can decorate your bracelet with beads and/or charms using your headpins made in class.  There will also be time to explore earring design ideas.

All tools, silver, torches and butane will be provided for in-class use.  Bring a few of your favorite beads to embellish your bracelet and/or earrings.
